Styling by face shape

The face-shape playbook, honestly tagged.

Hair, beard and eyewear guidance for each of the seven shapes — with every recommendation carrying its evidence tier, because the shape system is professional craft, not clinical science. The one thing guessing can't give you is which shape you actually are.

Oval

Your proportions already sit near the reference oval — styling is preference, not correction.

Round

Add apparent length and reduce side width to move a ~1:1 ratio toward the oval’s ~1.5.

Square

Soften the angular corners and add height so the strong jaw and temples read less boxy.

Oblong

Add width at the sides and shorten apparent length to pull a >1.6 ratio toward ~1.5.

Heart

Build width at the jaw and reduce the wide forehead to balance a top-heavy face.

Diamond

Fill the narrow forehead and jaw, flatten the wide cheekbones, to even the three widths.

Triangle

Add width up top and keep the jaw narrow to invert a bottom-heavy face toward the oval.

Skip the guessing.
